Voodoo Ranger IPA is an American IPA brewed by New Belgium Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip pint glass from a bottle.
The ale pours a clear gold with a thin head of white froth that dissolves rapidly.
Mosaic and Amarillo hops provide a strong, grassy aroma.
The palate opens with juicy flavors of citrus, pineapple, and mango. Caramel malt follows and then the taste buds are struck with pine and resin. The bitterness recedes just at the finish, leaving fruity syrup to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel is spot on with a medium body and ample carbonation.
Its presentation is lackluster and hopheads will likely wish its palate was as hoppy as the aroma. Put that aside and the Voodoo Ranger IPA is a well-balanced brew that offers a delightful blend of fruit and hops.
New Belgium recommends the following food pairings with their Voodoo Ranger IPA: grassy goat bleu cheese, grilled peaches, and honey glazed grilled chicken.
