Total Wake Up Call is an American Stout brewed by Barley Mow Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a shaker pint glass from a can.
The stout pours a mahogany color and topped by a finger-thick tan pad of foam that offers modest retention.
The aroma is hearty and warming with a scent of smoke and coffee roast.
The palate follows the nose with heaps of coffee roast flavor, dark chocolate and a touch of piney hops. The finish is sweet with a lingering taste of toffee.
The stout has a smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and less-than-moderate carbonation.
Total Wake Up Call is a smooth, easy drinker. Its clean palate offers plenty of flavor and would be appreciated by lovers of dark beers and coffee. Overall, Barley Mow has crafted a well-made stout.
