Steal This Can is an American IPA brewed by the Lord Hobo Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Appearance
The ale pours a somewhat cloudy orange-gold and capped by a tall stack of white foam that displays remarkable retention. Truly impressive. Chunks of sticky lace clutch the glass while the head slowly recedes. Its effervescence is apparent as bubbles continuously rise.
Aroma
The IPA has a lovely aroma that blends pine, mint, and a touch of malt.
Flavor
The tasting begins with hoppy flavors that are predominantly herbal, grassy, and mix in a touch of citrus. A light cracker malt base ties the palate together. The palate finishes with a bite of spicy and herbal hops atop an undercurrent of semisweet pineapple.
Mouthfeel
A crisp mouthfeel has a medium body but really comes alive on the tongue with its ample carbonation.
Overall
This West-coast style IPA features an impressive appearance and lovely aroma. Its taste packs plenty of bite for the hopheads. And while a little more balance would be appreciated, Steal This Can is a nice representation of the style and an enjoyable brew.
