Puff is an American Double IPA brewed by Sixpoint Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
The DIPA pours a clear copper and is topped by a thick cap of white foam that reduces slowly. A spittle of lace clings to the glass.
The aroma is mostly pleasant with a scent of piney hops and a touch of alcohol.
The palate is also delightfully hoppy; balanced with tropical fruit, biscuit, and caramel. Finishes with a hoppy bite of grapefruit, pepper, and just a hint of booze.
Its feel is somewhat chewy with a slightly heavier than medium body. Moderately carbonated.
For those not in the know, the Puff is the unfiltered variant of the Sixpoint Resin IPA. And while this is a tasty companion, the booze isn’t masked quite as well. However, it’s still pretty good considering its lofty 9.8% ABV. Puff is almost as good as its cousin, but this brew is better suited for those who like to push their liver to its limit.
