Old Brown Dog is an American Brown Ale brewed by Smuttynose Brewing Company. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a mug from a bottle.
The brown ale pours a clear amber and is topped by a thin tan head that leaves behind some light lace as it melts away.
The aroma is sweet with malt.
The palate has flavors of molasses, hazelnut, and finishes with a mild bite of hops.
Its feel has a relatively smooth and medium body with moderate carbonation.
The Old Brown Dog is a very enjoyable brown ale. Highly recommended.
Smuttynose recommends the following food pairings with their Old Brown Dog: poultry, grilled meats (especially sausages, ribs, and steak), enchiladas, and stuffed Poblano peppers.
