Neon White IPA is an American IPA brewed by MIA Beer Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.

The ale pours a murky burnt orange and is topped by a generous cap of soapy white foam that persists briefly. A few droplets of residue cling to the sides and a thin collar rings the glass.

The aroma consists of bright orange citrus, sweet mango, and grain.

The palate begins with a taste of doughy bread and quickly turns juicy with tropical fruit flavors. Tasting crests towards a gentle bite of piney hops and citrus before finishing sweetly with a lingering taste of tropical fruit. A dank note of piney hops adds some bite to the background.

The feel is smooth with a medium body and less-than-moderate carbonation. Finishes dryly. A slight warming sensation appears as the beer warms.

The Neon White IPA lacks many of the expected attributes of the style. Its color is too dark with a head that lacks retention. Its feel is too dense and could use more carbonation. Its aroma and palate lack the expected spices and yeast.

On the other hand, both its aroma and palate are delightful. So, while the Neon White IPA won’t align with your expectations, it’s an enjoyable brew just the same.

About the American IPA

The American IPA is the most popular craft beer style in the United States. And for good reason, too. When well crafted, its hoppy goodness delivers intense aromas and flavors that can be citrusy and fruity; floral and piney; earthy and herbal. The hops are complemented by a wide range of malts and other ingredients. It’s a popular playground for brewers to express their creativity and a veritable cornucopia for craft beer connoisseurs.
