Flatt & Scruggs is an American IPA brewed in the New England style by Bangin’ Banjo Brewing Company. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.

The NEIPA pours a hazy burnt orange and is topped by a thick cap of rocky, off-white foam. The head shows excellent retention and leaves a smattering of lace along the sides of the glass. A soapy ring tops the ale.

The aroma is quite fruity with a scent of ripe peaches and mango.

The palate begins with piney hops mixed with bready malt that bitters sharply with lemony citrus and mildly spicy hops. Sweet tropical fruit mellows the finish.

The feel is smooth with a slight chew to a body that’s a shade over moderate and matching carbonation. The finish is dry with a moderate astringency and warmth.

Its appearance is lovely and the aroma is fantastic. And while the palate is also terrific, the booze isn’t masked as well it should. Its feel is quite warm for the style. But put that aside and the Flatt & Scruggs New England-style IPA is a fine effort from Bangin’ Banjo.
