Chocolate Sombrero Mexican-Style Chocolate Stout is an American Imperial Stout brewed by Clown Shoes Beer, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a mug from a bottle.
The stout pours black with a half-inch mocha head that persists briefly but leaves some nice lacing.
The aromatics are delightful with a scent of chocolate and a hint of pepper.
Chocolate and pepper transfer to a robust palate that offers a smoky mix of roast malt, ancho chili, and vanilla. The taste profile rounds out with chocolate syrup and a touch of booze.
Mouthfeel has a medium body and moderate carbonation.
The combination of sweet, spicy, and roast make the Chocolate Sombrero a thoroughly enjoyable brew. Its chocolaty and smoky character represents the Mexican style quite well.
