Ananda is an American IPA brewed by Wiseacre Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Pours a cloudy marigold with an inch-thick cap of white foam that offers modest retention. Ample sediment is visibly afloat and comes to rest at the bottom of the glass.
The aromatics are pleasant with a scent of citrus and cracker malt.
The palate is piney and herbal balanced atop an ample malt backbone. Finishes with a bite of grapefruit and an underlying caramel sweetness.
The feel is crisp with a medium body and moderate carbonation.
The Ananda is an enjoyable brew with a nicely balanced palate. Though it’s pretty standard fare for an IPA, that doesn’t take away from what is generally a well-made brew.
The following foods are recommended as pairings with the Ananda IPA: blue cheese, cheddar cheese, curry, fish, Gorgonzola, Limburger, poultry, shellfish, and Thai.
