American Kölsch is a German-style Kölsch brewed by Boulevard Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the lager was served in a pilsener glass from a can.
The lager pours a crystal clear gold and is topped by a half-inch cap of white froth that dissolves rapidly. The brew showcases its effervescence with a steady stream of bubbles on the rise.
The aromatics are faint with a scent of honey.
Nicely balanced, the palate has a mildly spicy hop bite atop bready malt. Finishes with a bitter, herbal bite.
Mouthfeel is crisp with a light body and ample carbonation.
Overall, the American Kölsch is a well-balanced refresher. It’s light and oh so easy to drink.
Boulevard recommends the following food pairings with their American Kölsch: bratwurst, calamari, and nutty cheese.
