Accumulation White IPA is an American IPA brewed in the White IPA style by New Belgium Brewing Company. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a bottle.

Appearance

The ale pours a cloudy gold topped by a thick pad of pillowy white foam that shows fine retention. Patches of lace and residue cling to the glass as the head reduces. A stream of fine bubbles and clumps of sediment are visible in the glass.

Aroma

The aroma is fruity and spicy with a scent of orange peel and coriander. Wheat asserts itself as the beer warms.

Flavor

The palate begins with a taste of cracker malt that transitions to slightly sweet orange and a bite of grapefruit. A spicy note of peppercorn is followed by a flash of tropical fruit and a lingering bite of citrus. Creamy wheat malt ties the palate together.

Mouthfeel

The feel is smooth with a medium body and slightly peppy with a shade over medium carbonation. It’s slightly cloying in the middle and finishes somewhat dry.

Overall

Accumulation achieves a nice balance between fruit, spices, hops, and wheat. Its appearance is spot on for the style. The aroma is pleasant enough. Spices are a little hot but do add the warmth you’d expect of a winter seasonal. Perhaps its feel could benefit from a little more carbonation. Otherwise, Accumulation’s straightforward taste and aroma is a solid representation of a White IPA.

Recommended Pairings

New Belgium recommends the following food pairings with their Accumulation White IPA: Mexican cuisine including lime cilantro chicken tacos, cheesy enchiladas, spicy chili carrot soup, and avocado ice cream.
